SHOULD I VACCINATE MY CHILD ?

Vaccine talk is riddled with shoddy science, emotional arguments, convoluted explanations
and all out quackery. Very little common sense shines its way through the murky
vaccine debate.

Rather than question the safety and efficacy of vaccines, most physicians and parents
blindly ?immunize? children. Rarely do they ask the lifesaving question of, ?Will
a vaccine protect my child?? As a pharmaceutical chemist and parent, I researched
that question six years ago. The answer was an astounding no.

Vaccines are purported to work by triggering immunity. It is ?thunk? by the experts
that by exposing our immune system to weak or dead infectious agents, such as measles
or a flu virus, that it creates the appropriate immune defense. This logic has
been used to defend the use of every vaccine to date. Yet, each vaccine has proven
that the theory is nothing more than mental masturbation for nerdy scientists; it
sounds good and feels better, but it?s not the real thing. At best, vaccines only
temporarily boost our defenses, which hardly compensates for the myriad of potential
side effects. Few people are aware of ? or willing to accept - these cold, hard
facts.

Polio is the most feared childhood illness. It has caused paralysis and death for
much of human history. The world experienced a dramatic increase in polio cases
beginning in 1910. Frequent epidemics became regular events. They were the impetus
for a "Great Race" towards the development of a polio vaccine. It was
developed in 1953 and an oral version soon after. Yet, unbeknownst to most, polio
infection plummeted before the vaccines were introduced ? thanks to better sanitation
and nutrition. Good thing, because both forms were a total failure. In addition
to causing the very same infection they were supposed to prevent ? polio ? they
can also lead to sudden death and cancer.

The polio virus still exists today. But few of us suffer from it. Our protection
resides in the same things that were responsible for its decline; a healthy immune
system courtesy of proper sanitation and nutrition.

This same scenario was repeated in the case of the whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine.
Between the years of 1900 and 1935, mortality rates due to whooping cough dropped
by 79% in the U.S. Yet, the vaccine wasn?t introduced until 1940 (DTP and DTaP).
Today, those most susceptible to whooping cough are the ?immunized.? In 2002, researchers
with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publicly stated that ?The number
of infants dying from whooping cough, once a major killer of children in the United
States, is rising despite record high vaccination levels in the nation.?

The measles vaccine is no different. In 1957, the MMR vaccine became widely used
in an effort to eradicate measles, mumps and rubella. Rather than prevent measles,
it elicited a widespread epidemic. Between 1983 and 1990, there was a 423% increase
in measles cases among those vaccinated. Today, the World Health Organization (WHO)
actually warns that vaccinated individuals are 14 times more likely to contract
this disease compared to the unvaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control insisted that the MMR vaccine would also eliminate
mumps in the US by the year 2010. Then, in 2006, the largest mumps outbreak in
20 years occurred. Among those who suffered from mumps, 63% were ?immunized.?

From its inception to now, the flu vaccine has proven just as worthless. In 2007,
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that the flu vaccine
had ?no or low effectiveness? against influenza or influenza-like illness. The analysis
of data showed that the vaccine protected from zero to fourteen percent of vaccine
participants.

Considering the overt failure of vaccination, the idea of main lining an ineffective
and dangerous vaccine into our vulnerable children is chilling. Regardless, Big
Pharma is hell bent on pushing more. Be forewarned, each and every vaccine will
follow the same ineffective trend simply because they work against our immune system,
not with it.

Vaccines will never be the panacea they are marketed as. Fortunately, as long as
a child has proper eating and sanitation, their immune system can ward off biological
threats. And in the rare case it doesn't, emergency medicine can tackle the
infection. This is health made simple. But, in a society hell-bent on trading
health for wealth, it is often over looked; just like the logic that teaches, ?Vaccines
don?t protect children.?

Bush to meet leaders of India, China, South Korea

TOYAKO, Japan (AFP) ? US President George W. Bush was to meet separately Wednesday with leaders of India, China and South Korea, with nuclear disputes, trade rows, and the fight over climate change high on the agenda.

Bush's talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Chinese President Hu Jintao and South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak will come as the US leader wraps up a trip to Japan for a Group of Eight (G8) summit.

The stalled US-India atomic cooperation pact, six-country diplomacy aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear programmes, and hard-fought efforts to ratify a US-South Korea free trade pact were to be the key issues, US officials said.

The leaders were also expected to discuss Tuesday's pledges from the G8 to seek to halve carbon emissions blamed for climate change by 2050, as well as mid-term cuts including from major developing nations like China and India.

The unpopular US president, who has fewer than 200 days left before he leaves office, hoped Singh would bring word that he is ready to try to win Indian lawmakers' approval for the civilian nuclear energy pact, aides said.

Iran stages war games and rejects nuclear demand

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran started war games on Monday and its president rejected a demand by major powers that it stop enriching uranium as "illegitimate", showing no sign of backing down in a stand-off over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

Missile units of the elite Revolutionary Guards' naval and air forces began war games, Iranian news agencies said, hours after the U.S. Navy said it had begun exercises in the Gulf.

Speculation about an attack on the world's fourth biggest oil exporter over its nuclear programme rose after a report last month said Israel had practised such a strike. Fears of military confrontation helped send world oil prices to record highs.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday his country would not stop enriching uranium, work which Tehran says is aimed at generating power but which the West fears may be part of a covert nuclear weapons programme.

Iran to "hit Tel Aviv and U.S. ships" if attacked

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran will hit Tel Aviv, U.S. shipping in the Gulf and American interests around the world if it is attacked over its disputed nuclear activities, an aide to Iran's Supreme Leader was quoted as saying on Tuesday.

"The first bullet fired by America at Iran will be followed by Iran burning down its vital interests around the globe," the students news agency ISNA quoted Ali Shirazi as saying in a speech to Revolutionary Guards.

The United States and its allies suspect Iran is trying to build nuclear bombs. Tehran says its programme is peaceful.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said major world powers had decided to send European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana to Iran for talks on an incentives package they offered last month to induce Tehran to change its nuclear policy.

Sarkozy did not say when Solana would travel to Tehran. Iran formally replied on Friday to the offer by the United States, France, Britain, China, Russia and Germany.

France said Iran's response had ignored the world powers' demand for a suspension of uranium enrichment before talks on implementing the package -- a condition rejected on Monday as "illegitimate" by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

G-8 Leaders Pledge to Cut Emissions in Half by 2050

RUSUTSU, Japan ? Pledging to ?move toward a low-carbon society,? leaders of the world?s richest nations on Tuesday endorsed the idea of cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2050, but refused to set a short-term target for reducing the gases that scientists agree are warming the planet.

The declaration by the so-called Group of Eight ? the United States, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Canada and Russia ? came under intense criticism from environmentalists, who called it a missed opportunity and said it ignores the urgent need to cut emissions more rapidly.

But European leaders, who have long pressed President Bush to adopt a more aggressive stance on climate change, said they were pleased with the agreement, and cast it as an important step toward setting the groundwork for a binding international treaty to be negotiated in Copenhagen in 2009.

?This is a strong signal to citizens around the world,? the president of the European Commission, Jose Barroso, told reporters at a news conference near here. ?The science is clear, the economic case for action is stronger than ever. Now we need to go the extra mile to secure an ambitious global deal in Copenhagen.?

The climate change document was among a series of communiqu?s the Group of Eight leaders issued Tuesday, the second day of their three-day gathering on the mountainous northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. In addition to global warming, they tackled food security, the global economy and aid to Africa.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has signed a deal to base part of Washington's controversial missile defence system in the Czech Republic.

The deal, signed in Prague, allows a tracking radar base to be set up.

The plans remain unpopular in the Czech republic, and the US has also failed to reach agreement with Poland on housing other parts of the system there.

Russia is strongly against the missile defence system, saying it would pose a threat to its security.

Moscow has threatened to aim its own missiles at any eventual base in Poland or the Czech Republic.

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Tuesday that the Fed should have additional powers to prevent and limit financial market turmoil.
Congress should consider giving the Fed power to set standards for capital liquidity holdings and risk management for investment banks, Bernanke said.

In the past, the Securities and Exchange Commission has been the primary regulator of broker dealers.

In addition, Congress might give the Fed broad power to promote financial market stability, Bernanke said.

If Congress makes this choice, "I do not think the Fed could fully meet these objectives without the authority to directly examine banks and other financial institutions that are subject to prudential regulation," Bernanke said.

Bernanke spoke at a conference on lending to low- and middle-income borrowers, sponsored by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Bernanke did not discuss the economic outlook in his remarks.

">Oil futures extend decline to trade below $138

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil prices fell sharply for a second consecutive session Tuesday to trade below $138 a barrel, as comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke lifted the dollar and put energy futures under heavy selling pressure.

Crude oil for August delivery fell $3.52, or 2.5%, to $137.85 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Crude is trading at its weakest level since June 26.
Oil led a broad retreat in commodities. The Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index, a benchmark barometer gauging the prices of major commodities, fell 1.1%.

Other energy futures also posted sharp losses, with natural gas declining 3%. Gold and other metals futures also fell. See Metals Stocks.

"We're starting to see some of the fluff come out of the market a little bit," said Phil Flynn, vice president at futures brokerage Alaron Trading in Chicago.

"The market is facing up to the fact that we're almost halfway through the summer driving season and demand is shrinking," Flynn said. Also "the dollar is up and that's going to put some pressure on oil."

Those who?ve opposed Henry Morgentaler?s being awarded the Order of Canada have opposed it in the only way they?ve always opposed abortion?s being allowed: vocally, only vocally. The latter is what is truly disgraceful. At least Morgentaler had the guts to defy the law in his attack on the unborn; the ?pro-life? movement won?t even discuss any suggestion that the law should be broken in active defence of unborn humans, not even when ?pro-lifers? are presented with a rational argument that such a contravention of current law should eventually be ruled constitutional. For instance, I doubt that any of the ?official? pro-life movement?s members will even comment on this letter. ?Pro-life? periodicals routinely reject this kind of letter; I?ve put on the Internet a blog of such rejected letters.

By the way, what about instituting a ?classic Canadian compromise? between Canadians who want abortion permitted and Canadians who want it punished, since the former now have everything all their own way and the latter now are utterly neglected by the state? Why not imprison an ?abortion provider? for exceeding a certain quota? Wouldn?t that at least encourage him to exercise some judgment in deciding whether specific instances were ?medically necessary?? Wouldn?t it allow others to judge whether he truly had pity for unfortunate women or was merely making huge profits from their misfortune? Not that pregnancy itself is ever a misfortune; the misfortune is usually some other circumstance in which a woman finds herself when pregnant ? a circumstance less easy to attack than a child in the womb.

One would think that people who supposedly want abortion to be ?safe, legal and rare? would embrace such a compromise? But the ?pro-life? can?t afford ? or can they? ? to ?compromise?. They had already compromised fatally when they failed to insist absolutely, with fair use of force upholding their insistence, that procuring an abortion must be a capital offence for all committing it. That would at least, by rightly making orphans of children whose parents would otherwise have killed them, have done much to counter the normal parent?s naturally not feeling terribly responsible for the children of other parents while these parents are available.

It ought to prompt all Canadians to take sides promptly and effectively instead of their assuming abortion is mostly none of their business. (In fact, the making of any law at all ought to be a matter of life and death for all who impose or oppose it, especially for those who impose it; anyone who endorses any law ought to be ready to die fighting in its defence; government-run education's emphasis on the "privilege" of the purely passive vote is demoralizing our nation.)

At this stage governments may still be in a posturing phase for war and not yet involved in outright violent, open combat. Recently, a commercial jetliner landed with the plane?s nose cone flattened inward. A crushed nose cone is extremely rare, and such an impact would create a tremendous noise in the cockpit. But nothing was mentioned about what struck the aircraft or any loud noise heard. What?s most interesting about this is that the highest air pressure on an aircraft is on the underside of the wings and fuselage which is the source of lift aerodynamically. Yet we can clearly see it is the upper area of the nose cone that was crushed:

If the object had struck only a few feet higher, it would have broken the windshield and probably killed the crew from flying glass, metal and sudden decompression, likely resulting in a 100% fatality of all on board. After such a disaster, it would be very difficult to reconstruct exactly what caused it after the wreckage falls several miles to Earth.

They also urged Tehran to respond positively to a new package by six major powers aimed at bringing an end to the five-year-old nuclear standoff which has led to a string of sanctions against Iran.

The United States and its top regional ally Israel have never ruled out military action against Iran over its nuclear drive, which the West fears could be aimed at building an atomic bomb.

Iraq warns US on withdrawal date

Iraq will not accept any security deal with the US which does not include a date for the pullout of foreign troops, a senior Iraqi official has said.

National Security Adviser Mowaffaq al-Rubaie was speaking in Najaf.

The prospect of setting such a timetable was raised by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki on Monday.

The US has played down the suggestion of a withdrawal timetable. The UN mandate allowing a US presence in Iraq expires in 2008.

"We will not accept any memorandum of understanding if it does not give a specific date for a complete withdrawal of foreign troops," Mr al-Rubaie told reporters in Iraq's holy city of Najaf.

Russia denies its spies killed Kremlin critic

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia has no evidence its intelligence services murdered Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko in London, prosecutors said on Tuesday.

Britain's BBC broadcaster quoted a senior British security official on Monday as saying there were "very strong indications" the Russian state backed the murder.

Litvinenko was an agent with Russia's state security service who turned against his former employer and settled in London. Poisoned by a massive dose of a rare radioactive isotope, polonium 210, he died a slow, painful death in hospital in 2006.

Russian prosecutors are investigating the murder and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office said in a statement: "The investigation has made significant progress and does not possess information that any intelligence service was involved in the crime."

Catholic group hands in Order of Canada over Morgentaler

An Ontario Catholic organization returned an Order of Canada medal to the Governor General on Tuesday to protest the recent decision to award abortion crusader Dr. Henry Morgentaler with the same honour.

Members of the Madonna House brought the medal, along with a letter of explanation, back to Rideau Hall, the Governor General's official residence in Ottawa.

The medal had been awarded to the organization's late founder in 1976.

Catherine Doherty, who died at the age of 89 in 1985, was named a member the Order of Canada for "a lifetime of devoted services to the underprivileged of many nationalities, both in Canada and abroad," according to the Governor General's website.

She and her husband started Madonna House in 1947 in Combermere, about 180 kilometres west of Ottawa. The organization now counts 200 members and operates soup kitchens and retreats in seven countries around the world. All involved have taken vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

Gardasil certainly made headlines in 2006 when the Food and Drug Administration approved it as a vaccine against four strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV, which can cause cervical cancer.

HPV can be transmitted sexually, so many parents decided to give the vaccination to their teenaged daughters.

Now, Gardasil is making headlines again. This time, the drug?s manufacturer is under scrutiny as the vaccine?s recipients are complaining of ill side effects.

There have been more than 78,000 complaints about Gardasil, New England Cable News reported Tuesday.

Complaints have included nausea, blood clots, genital warts, paralysis and even death.

The Centers for Disease Control said the deaths are not linked to Gardasil.

Merck is standing by its product, insisting it is safe.

?I think of all the vaccines out there, this has been thoroughly tested prior to release,? said Dr. Manny Alvarez, managing health editor of FOXNews.com. ?This is a vaccine that helps protect women from a very deadly disease. Therefore the benefits fully outweigh any side effect that has been found so far.

"However, I do believe that with any medication, constant surveillance of complications need to be monitored aggressively and in extreme cases, like this one, thorough investigations are necessary.?

The family of one teenager ? who is only going by the name of Jenny ? told CBS News Monday that their daughter was healthy until 15 months ago when she received the third installment of the vaccine.

Jenny?s parents said it was soon after that final shot that Jenny began to experience signs of degenerative muscle disease, and she is now almost completely paralyzed.

Hong Kong expert warns flu vaccine for chickens losing efficacy

Hong Kong - A vaccine used to stop outbreaks of the deadly bird flu virus in chickens in Hong Kong for the last seven years is losing its effectiveness, a leading microbiologist warned Tuesday.

Professor Yuen Kwok-yung said the vaccine, which protects chicken from the H5 strain of the virus, is becoming less effective and the city risks further outbreaks because total failure is inevitable.

The head of microbiology at the University of Hong Kong told the South China Morning Post the virus was mutating and shifting away from the Fujian strain of H5N2 that it was developed for.

His warning follows an outbreak of H5N1 virus in four wet markets in Hong Kong in June, the first in years in the former British colony.

National Review: Wikipedia Is A Stunning Example Of How The Propaganda Machine Works

Ever wonder how Al Gore, the United Nations, and company continue to get away with their claim of a ?scientific consensus? confirming their doomsday view of global warming? Look no farther than Wikipedia for a stunning example of how the global-warming propaganda machine works.

As you (or your kids) probably know, Wikipedia is now the most widely used and influential reference source on the Internet and therefore in the world, with more than 50 million unique visitors a month.

In theory Wikipedia is a ?people?s encyclopedia? written and edited by the people who read it - anyone with an Internet connection. So on controversial topics, one might expect to see a broad range of opinion.

Not on global warming. On global warming we get consensus, Gore-style: a consensus forged by censorship, intimidation, and deceit.

I first noticed this when I entered a correction to a Wikipedia page on the work of Naomi Oreskes, author of the now-infamous paper, published in the prestigious journal Science, claiming to have exhaustively reviewed the scientific literature and found not one single article dissenting from the alarmist version of global warming.

Of course Oreskes?s conclusions were absurd, and have been widely ridiculed. I myself have profiled dozens of truly world-eminent scientists whose work casts doubt on the Gore-U.N. version of global warming. Following the references in my book The Deniers, one can find hundreds of refereed papers that cast doubt on some aspect of the Gore/U.N. case, and that only scratches the surface.

Naturally I was surprised to read on Wikipedia that Oreskes?s work had been vindicated and that, for instance, one of her most thorough critics, British scientist and publisher Bennie Peiser, not only had been discredited but had grudgingly conceded Oreskes was right.

I checked with Peiser, who said he had done no such thing. I then corrected the Wikipedia entry, and advised Peiser that I had done so.

Peiser wrote back saying he couldn?t see my corrections on the Wikipedia page. I made the changes again, and this time confirmed that the changes had been saved. But then, in a twinkle, they were gone again. I made other changes. And others. They all disappeared shortly after they were made.

Turns out that on Wikipedia some folks are more equal than others. Kim Dabelstein Petersen is a Wikipedia ?editor? who seems to devote a large part of his life to editing reams and reams of Wikipedia pages to pump the assertions of global-warming alarmists and deprecate or make disappear the arguments of skeptics.

I soon found others who had the same experience: They would try to squeeze in any dissent, or even correct an obvious slander against a dissenter, and Petersen or some other censor would immediately snuff them out.

Now Petersen is merely a Wikipedia ?editor.? Holding the far more prestigious and powerful position of ?administrator? is William Connolley. Connolley is a software engineer and sometime climatologist (he used to hold a job in the British Antarctic Survey), as well as a serial (but so far unsuccessful) office seeker for England?s Green party.

And yet by virtue of his power at Wikipedia, Connolley, a ruthless enforcer of the doomsday consensus, may be the world?s most influential person in the global warming debate after Al Gore. Connolley routinely uses his editorial clout to tear down scientists of great accomplishment such as Fred Singer, the first director of the U.S. National Weather Satellite Service and a scientist with dazzling achievements. Under Connolley?s supervision, Wikipedia relentlessly smears Singer as a kook who believes in Martians and a hack in the pay of the oil industry.

Wikipedia is full of rules that editors are supposed to follow, and it has a code of civility. Those rules and codes don?t apply to Connolley, or to those he favors.

"Peisers crap shouldn?t be in here," Connolley wrote several weeks ago, in berating a Wikipedian colleague during an 'edit war,' as they're called. Trumping Wikipedia?s stated rules, Connelly used his authority to ensure Wikipedia readers saw only what he wanted them to see. Any reference, anywhere among Wikipedia?s 2.5 million English-language pages, that casts doubt on the consequences of climate change will be bent to Connolley?s bidding.

Nor are Wikipedia?s ideological biases limited to global warming. As an environmentalist I find myself with allies and adversaries on both sides of the aisle, Left and Right. But there is no doubt where Wikipedia stands: firmly on the Left. Try out Wikipedia?s entries on say, Roe v. Wade or Intelligent Design, and you will see that Wikipedia is the people?s encyclopedia only if those people are not conservatives.

911 debunking group Assholes For Lies were shocked by the BBC's latest hit peace of a documentary 'The Conspiracy Files - 911 The Third Tower', which aired on BBC2 on Sunday night.

'This is the worst bit of lying we've seen the BBC do,' founding member, Brian Pillock said. 'We expected a better cover story and more shameful caricature assassination of 911 truth activists, but this documentary actually made them look like real professional people, such as 'Professor' Stephen Jones. It even mentioned the professional body of Architects and Scholars for 911 Truth! We can't have this!! It makes it hard for assholes like ourselves to easily portray anyone who questions the official government lies as nothing more than wacky conspiracy theorists.'

We asked Brian about the point where the documentary showed the famous live BBC news clip, where they reported building seven had collapsed, when it was still standing behind the reporter who was reporting it.

'That was the worst part of all. Up to now, it was easy to just say it was green screen trickery by people who knew how to use video editing software, but this was the actual BBC admitting that it was real! What a travesty that was! Now millions more people have woken up to the lies we told on 911.'

'So,' we then asked. 'Why do you defend the lies so much?'

'It's simple, 19 hijackers taking over the planes and crashing them into the towers is a lot more comforting than what these truthers are telling us. I mean, we all know the government are idiots, but to believe that they are idiots because they are compartmentalised puppets of a secret evil world government, who controls them like minions, is a lot more horrifying. I must defend 911 lies; otherwise I might start wetting my bed at night again, like when I was five. I must believe that the enemies are simply turban wearing muslin nutters and nothing is hidden and Osama Bin Laden wasn't a CIA operative and our government didn't actually create Al Queda in the late seventies in Afghanistan and aren't using them to currently attack Iran, as so many CIA documents and news reports prove. On Monday 30th June you allowed an Israeli spokesperson Mr Hertzog to make false accusations against Iran without any balanced response from an Iranian spokesperson. The BBC's world reputation is damaged by this one sidedness and it probably offends against the Charter. It also ramps up the propaganda for war.

As you must know, Israel had over 200 nuclear missiles according to Mordachai Vanunu in 1986 and probably two or three times as many now. These would be considered illegal if it was Iran that had covertly built them outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Condemnation by the UN Security Council would be justified. But Iran as you also know, has signed up as a member of the NNPT. It cannot be right that an NNPT member is punished for developing nuclear power only within the rules whilst a non-member is allowed to go unpunished for building hundreds of nuclear missiles.

The use of nuclear weapons has been outlawed by the International Court of Justice and so the threat to use them, made by Israel and the USA, must be an offence, just as threatening to use an illegal firearm is an offence in the UK.

The insidious false slanders against Iran for ?lying to the IAEA? and ?covering up its nuclear facilities? fan the embers of distrust which may one day erupt into fire.

You failed to remind the public that every country deceives the IAEA, sadly; most comprehensively the USA, secondly Israel and thirdly the UK. None of these countries has submitted to IAEA weapons inspections.

You ignore the fact that the USA has over 10,000 nuclear warheads. Israel has 400-500. Moreover both these countries have actually threatened Iran with nuclear strikes against her civil nuclear plant. Why were these not mentioned? The USA is the only country to have used nuclear bombs. Why is this not mentioned on the 60th anniversary of the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

In fairness, it is Israel and the USA which should be referred to the UN Security Council under Chapter V11 for threatening nuclear strikes against a non-nuclear-armed country (see attached: Dick Cheney?s Order to STRATCOM leaked by Scott Ritter and Greg Szymanski in patriott2422@aol.com; Uri Mahnaimi in The Times 13th March: and Paul Beaumont in The Observer 12th October 2003).

Nuclear weaponry offends customary international law as it will murder people indiscriminately and its very existence is a terror threat. Nuclear power of any sort is a danger to life on the planet as even the American Depleted Uranium shells used against Iraqis have shown, in birth deformities and leukaemia incidences, concentrated in Basra province where they were most heavily used in 1991.

The conclusion is that if you have nuclear weapons, like N Korea, you are unlikely to be attacked by your enemies. If you don?t, like Iraq and Iran, you are. The behaviour of America and Israel directly incites nuclear weapons to be built and developed.

Perhaps you could make a follow-on programme that corrects the bias which you have perhaps inadvertently stoked in people?s minds?

G8 leaders to avoid setting hard emissions targets

As G8 leaders prepare to tackle the topic of oil prices and the big energy challenges that lie ahead for the global economy, it appears there will be no mention of hard targets to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
